We just had the most delicious Curry Fried Rice with Vegan Eggless Rolls at Paridise. This resturant is a bit out the way for Martin and I to go to regularly but its an old favorite. The owners are the sweetest. Be sure to have the taro pastries for dessert they are so good!
Just had the the parents-in-law over for lunch for a belated fathers day. Martin and I made Sweet and Spicy Butternut Soup and Cheater Pad Thai from The Happy Herbivore by Lindsay S. Nixon and Everyday Chickpea-Quinoa Salad from Appetite for Reduction by Isa Chandra Moskowitz. Everyting was delicious the wasn't as spicy as i would have liked but still really good and the Pad Thai is now one our favorites. For the salad I sub'd it for Sprouted Bean Trio by truRoots. Then we had blueberry muffins that were left over from this weekends bakesale at VegFest for Stop UBC Animal Research. The muffin recipe is from another one Isa's books Vegan Brunch. We ate it all up so quickly I only got a picture of the salad.
Happy Summer Solstice!
Forks over Knives was really great! I won the tickets on animal voices and decided to take my mother in law who was interested in seeing the movie after she had seen previews of the movie on Dr.OZ. After the movie Rip Esselstyn, author of the book "Engine 2 Diet", did a really good job of answering everyones questions.
On our way home after the movie my mother in law who has tried a plant based diet in the past that didn't stick said that this movie made her see how healthy it really is and that she wanted to go onto a whole foods plant based diet!
I highly recommend this movie to everyone from junk food meat eaters to super healthy vegans. It will change the way you think about food.
